MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling also known as Collagen Induction Therapy and Skin Needling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure which involves hundreds of tiny, sterile needles in a small cartridge or roller puncturing the skin to stimulate a natural production of healthy collagen. We create a controlled injury within the skin and the skin does what it does best, it responds by kick starting the wound healing process.

No matter which method of “Microneedling” is used, the concept is the same – microscopic needles are moved over the skin at a chosen depth creating tiny punctures in the skin to stimulate the skins own healing response. Whether you have had the manual roller or the Raffine pen using a cartridge of clustered needles, then the skin’s response to is the same.

As the needles penetrate the skin they produce tiny microscopic traumas. This treatment stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself safely and naturally, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin. Your skin is absorbing topical serums and creams thousands of times more than it normally does. What follows is a distinct number of phases to bring about fantastic physical changes to the skin.

Haematosis – Can last up to 15 minutes
This is the first instant stage. The needles penetrate the skin and create punctures. The blood components fill the area. The damages tissues begin to constrict to stop blood flow, the tissue begins to clot. White blood cells (leucocytes) flow to the area and begin cleansing the area looking for bacteria and infection. The tiny punctures created begin to close by approximately 3-5 minutes.

Inflammation – Can last 15 minutes to day 3
Erythema similar to mild/moderate sunburn is present for 1-3 days. There maybe minor swelling. Growth Factors are secreted from the macrophages and initiate the wound healing process. White Blood cells (Neutrophils) migrate to the area and begin killing invading microbes.

Proliferation (Regeneration) – Can last from day 4 to day 20
The skin begins to regenerate. New cell formation begins. Fibroblasts release collagen. New blood vessels form (angiogenesis) and provide nutrition and oxygen to the tissue and microscopic blood vessels start to fill the puncture. Epithelialisation occurs, cells migrate to form a barrier between the punctures and the environment.

Remodelling (Final stage) From day 21 up to 12 months or more
Clients start to see visible changes. Fibroblasts continue to remodel and organise within the dermis, secreting collagen to strengthen the skin. The weaker collagen (type 3) which was produced in the Proliferation stage is now stronger (type 1). Epidermal cells grow over connective tissue.

1. Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types. Clients with sun damage, fine lines, very dry skin and dull skin are great candidates. However, since the procedure requires use of a sharp scalpel, those with active acne or active rosacea should pass on it until their complexion calms down.

2. Contrary to what you might think, Dermaplaning will not make your hair grow back thicker or darker. We assure you that once your hair begins to grow back it might feel different because the hair was cut straight across, but it's actually the same texture as before and grows at the same speed. It also just might seem thicker because the hair was bluntly cut by the blade versus having a natural point to it.

3. There's no downtime. Some light redness can be expected but not always. It's perfectly fine and common to make an appointment during lunch and go right back to work after the treatment.

4. You'll need to be diligent with SPF afterward. You should always wear sun protection every day — especially when you're outside for a prolonged period of time — but post-exfoliation your skin is especially susceptible to the sun. So, if you don't take sun protection seriously, you might want to skip this sloughing treatment.

SKIN PEELS

The chemical peel is one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world. Today chemical peels are among the most popular and widely recognised methods of improving the health and appearance of the skin by removing dead skin cells and encouraging new ones to grow. Chemical peel depth can range from very superficial to deep although several light depth peels can often achieve similar results to one deeper peel treatment but with much less risk and shorter recovery time.

The superficial peels contain a mixture of Glycolic, Lactic and Salicylic Acids to remove the upper layers of the epidermis encouraging regeneration and rejuvenation of new skin cells.
